Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Review: Is the Skyliner Worth It?

If there is one thing you need to know before booking Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, it’s this:

This resort is LARGE.

And while Caribbean Beach is one of Disney’s Skyliner resorts — which is absolutely one of its biggest selling points — your room location can make a huge difference in how convenient that Skyliner actually feels.

We stayed at Caribbean Beach in 2023, before the most recent room renovations, and we got incredibly lucky with our location. We were placed in the Jamaica section, Building 43, and honestly, it was pretty close to perfect.

We could step out of our room and head one direction for the buses to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, or walk the other direction toward the Skyliner for EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

For us, transportation was incredibly convenient.

But that's not everyone's experience here — and that's one of the biggest things I think families should understand before booking Caribbean Beach.

🚡 Let's Talk About the Skyliner

The Disney Skyliner is probably the biggest reason many families choose Caribbean Beach.

Caribbean Beach serves as the main Skyliner hub, which means you have direct Skyliner access to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios without needing to transfer.

And when your room is in a convenient location like ours was?

It's fantastic.

We loved being able to walk over, hop on the Skyliner and head straight to the parks. There's even a Joffrey's at the Skyliner station, which certainly doesn't hurt when you're heading out for an early park morning!

But here's my biggest warning:

Having Skyliner access does not necessarily mean you'll have a short walk to the Skyliner.

Caribbean Beach is huge, and I've had clients stay in other sections of the resort — including preferred locations — who were disappointed by how far they had to walk to reach the Skyliner.

I can always request certain sections or buildings for my clients, and knowing the resort layout helps me make those requests strategically. But Disney room requests are exactly that: requests. They are never guaranteed.

We got very lucky with Jamaica 43.

If we had been much farther away from the Skyliner, I honestly think my opinion of the resort might be different.

🌴 The Caribbean Beach Atmosphere

The resort itself is bright, colorful and very much on theme.

You'll find tropical colors, palm trees, sandy beach areas and beautiful views around the lake. It genuinely feels like Disney's version of a Caribbean escape.

It's also a really pretty resort to walk around.

Even though the size can be a downside when you're trying to get somewhere quickly, we enjoyed the scenery while walking around the property. And seeing the Skyliner gondolas floating overhead adds something uniquely Disney to the atmosphere.

You can also catch views of the EPCOT nighttime fireworks from areas around the resort.

That's such a fun option on a resort or rest day — or if you decide you'd rather leave EPCOT before the nighttime crowds and enjoy some of the fireworks from the resort instead.

🍴 The Food Was Surprisingly Good

We did not eat at Sebastian's Bistro during our stay, so I can't personally review that one.

But we DID eat at the resort's quick-service restaurant, and I remember getting Caribbean-style tacos that were delicious.

One thing I appreciated was that the menu actually leaned into the resort's theme. There were plenty of interesting choices instead of everything feeling like standard theme-park quick service.

We also enjoyed the pool bar, which had some great food options.

Overall, we thought Caribbean Beach was a great resort for families who want good quick-service choices without needing a table-service reservation every time they want something different.

And there's another huge dining perk nearby...

🍝 Riviera Resort Is Right There

We LOVE Primo Piatto at Disney's Riviera Resort.

From Caribbean Beach, you can walk over to Riviera or hop on the Skyliner, which opens up even more dining options without needing to travel very far.

Primo Piatto is one of our favorite resort quick-service restaurants, and if you want something more special, you also have Topolino's Terrace right there at Riviera.

Having another Disney resort — especially one with such good dining — so easily accessible is a major bonus.

🏴‍☠️ The Pool Was a HUGE Hit

This was probably Harper's favorite part of Caribbean Beach.

The main pool has a fun pirate-fort theme, two water slides — one larger and one smaller — and a pirate-themed splash area for younger kids.

She absolutely loved it.

If you're planning resort time and have kids who love swimming, Caribbean Beach has a lot going for it. This isn't a resort where I'd want to spend every minute rushing back and forth to the parks. There's plenty here to enjoy on a slower afternoon or resort day.

🛏️ What About the Rooms?

We stayed before the newer room renovations, but even then, we felt like our room had plenty of space for our family.

The rooms have since been refreshed, so the exact room experience you'll have today isn't the same one we had in 2023.

That's actually an important distinction when reading older Caribbean Beach reviews online. The resort itself and its layout are still relevant, but the room product has changed since our stay.

❤️ Would We Stay at Caribbean Beach Again?

Here's my potentially unpopular Disney opinion:

Caribbean Beach isn't one of my personal favorite Disney resorts.

And that's okay!

Part of that is completely subjective. I'm just not as drawn to beach-themed resorts when I'm at Disney. I tend to gravitate toward resorts with a different atmosphere.

But my bigger hesitation is the size.

When we stayed in Jamaica 43, the transportation setup was fantastic. If I knew I could have that exact location every time, I'd feel differently.

But you can't guarantee it.

And for me, paying for a Skyliner resort while potentially having a substantial walk just to reach the Skyliner takes away some of its appeal.

I know plenty of people who completely disagree with me on this one! Some families would happily walk farther to the Skyliner if it means avoiding another Disney bus — and I completely understand that.

That's why choosing a Disney resort is so personal.

✨ Who Do I Think Caribbean Beach Is Best For?

I'd especially consider Caribbean Beach for families who:

  • Love the Disney Skyliner

  • Plan to spend significant time at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios

  • Want a fun pool and splash area for the kids

  • Appreciate tropical, colorful resort theming

  • Want solid quick-service dining choices

  • Don't mind walking around a large resort

  • Like having easy access to Riviera Resort dining

If minimal walking is one of your biggest priorities, though, this is a resort where I would want to have a conversation about location before booking.

Because at Caribbean Beach, where your room is located can genuinely change your experience.

And that's one of the reasons I don't believe Disney resort recommendations should ever be one-size-fits-all.

The resort someone else absolutely loves may not be the best resort for your family.

When I help my clients choose where to stay, I'm looking at more than price. We talk about transportation, resort size, dining, pools, park priorities, kids' ages and what you actually want your vacation to feel like.

Because the goal isn't just to book a Disney resort.

It's to find the one that fits your family.
